KUCHING, SARAWAK 2003

Here are some pictures taken during my trip to Sarawak. I'm dedicating this webpage to my friend Andy in Vancouver who has no idea where Sarawak or Borneo is. He still owe me his travel report to Hong Kong. Anyway, Sarawak was a short trip from the 26th til the 30th of December, in between Christmas and New Year. And Yes, I did celebrate my birthday in Sarawak.

Leaving Jetty near a town call Padawan to the BAKO National Park.
( Wasn't Padawan what u called a JEDI apprentice ?? )

Me & Alex with Mt. Santubong behind us.
Legend states a Santubong princess as the guardian of the Country, Sarawak.
It all seemed calm until the waves came crashing down. We had a roller coaster ride, well Judith kinda had a river rafting experience and was totally wet.

The thrilling boat ride took about 20 minutes. Got there in BAKO national park, shocked to see a wild boar roaming freely at the information/tourist center. The entrance fee was only RM10 per person.

Al, had to leave later to catch his flight, so with the low tide, the boat cant come in by three o'clock we would hav to walked on the beach to middle of the sea, but before that a short Jungle Trekking. We took the PAKU(white trail), which is only an easy 0.8km (1hr) adventure into the jungle

Damn it, the Nasi Lemak I had in the morning making me look fat, gotta inhale each time someone snaps a photograph.

Tiring it was, I think it was around this time we spotted a Chameleon, disguised amongst the trees. Should've worn my shorts instead of three quarter pants(u ppl gonna puke looking at my ugly legs), very humid it was.

At last it was downhill.

Greeted a few tourists and rested at a stop. We were at the end of the trail. Facing us was a lovely sight of the beach. It was too bright and hot to be taking pictures under the sun, so we opted to rest there around 20 minutes or so before a bunch of monkeys came and entertained us,... ha...ha... actually I think it was us that actually created the havoc and not them. It must've been the mandarin oranges and fried banana fritters that draw them to us.

Alas, it was time to head for home. Unfortunately, we had to track the same way back. I think some monkeys were still trailing us at the time this picture was taken.

Exhausted. We rested at the tourist centre, replenish our water supply and head for the beach and walked to the middle of the sea to meet up with the boat man. It was a daunting tasks to find him, managed to see sights of flying fishes in the shallow water. Locals were catching bamboo clams in the muddy beach at the time. The boat ride was calm this time. 30 minutes later, we were at the Jetty. I bought more banana fritters and ate them all... like 12 piece of something in the car whilst Judith was rushing us home to Kuching.
