It was just a small
airport, the arrival hall was as big as my master bedroom,
nevertheless the executive lounge was impressive. We were welcomed by
the PLN (Indonesia Electric Utility) with flower garland and a very
warm welcome.

The JMCC meeting this
year was hosted by the Indonesians. Hyatt Regency was chosen as the venue,
following Johor Bahru the year before. The resort had all necessity
(minus a gym tho) and the workers were very helpful and polite.

Some snapshots around the Hyatt Hotel in Yogjakarta.

We were entertained by
a local DJ as our MC and 2 lovely gals at our welcoming dinner.
Delegates from EGAT (Thailand Electric Utility was also present. JMCC
is represented by EGAT, PLN and TNB. Felt kinda weird coz it was my
1st time meeting them. As for En. Rozemi and Yoke Wai, they've
certainly made frens wif the other delegates when they were in JB
during the 6th JMCC last year.

Pak Yoko and me looked
on in marvel as the bosses sang a few songs. Remarkably it was really
good. I was impressed. Yogjakarta was an hour behind Malaysia time and I
was beat by 10pm. Decided to call it a night as tomorrow was indeed a
big day.

After the opening
ceremony and photo session of the entire group., the presentations
started to take place. Oh ya, somehow I left my Ties at home and hence
had to borrow one from Mr. Leong. The other Malaysian delegates
includes Hj. Ilham, En. Rosli, En Rozimi, and Yoke Wai. Each of us
presenting one topic for the event.

The discussion paused
that day and we find ourselves hopping into a tour bus (everywhere was
30min) and having
dinner near the Prambanan Temple. The food was great. Fried Nangka ..
yum yum... and tempe.. yum yum...... drinking the ginger drink was
kinda weird tho. Oh.. and errr.. the spicy stuff.... had to avoid that
all the way... :D |
Too bad it was too
dark.. Cant actually see the temple behind us. |
Nice food and company. The local
food was nice, especially the fried nangka.
Oh, we all wore the
same polo shirt as we were all going for a bowling tournament that
night.
But before that, we
got to see a cultural ballet dance at an open air theater right beside
our dinner place. The place is called GEDUNG KESENIAN TRI MURTI
The story of Ramayana
... a bit draggy. |
It was the story of
Ramayana, like the ones I saw in Bali (Kecak dance) tho the ending was
different.. ???
We later went bowling.
Again, I was half asleep. Even the durian aroma in the whole bowling
alley didnt manage to keep me
awake. It was a long night.
Got back to the hotel room and slept like a log.
Scored badly, 100 and
only 50... ha.. ha... darn, to think there was a time when 150 was my
average. |
Had plenty of fruits that night |
2nd day of
presentation and it was my turn to present my topic - Experiences in
Substation Automation. A few people commented that the presentation
was good. :) Too bad the topic only got a small party interested. Argh,
my big fish in small pond syndrome. It was good nevertheless to have
shared the knowledge we had. My shoulders were lighter after that. :)
:) ... couldn't believe i was stressed up... well, i think it was the
hectic schedule and was just glad that everything was coming to an
end.
And just like the day
before, mid way after lunch we had a short break to exercise to make
us all more awake.
doing the macarena
it was back to the discussions right
after that.?
The two days
discussion ended with a closing ceremony and a farewell dinner
attended by the delegates. Cant remember where we were but this area
is known for its products made from silver.
We were entertained by
the same MC on the 1st day and wonderful and talented singers. I so
rike it when they sang Siti Nurhaliza's song.. 'bukan cinta biasa' ...
hmm.. tho she did get the lyrics wrong.
The indonesian
delegates sang wonderfully. Such Talent. And they danced the night
away. |
The Indonesians group
singing was truly great. Was Impressed listening to Zainal and Dini
singing.. |
The Thais attempted to
sing too... :) |
We went to the palace and Candi Borobudur the next day after going to
a substation :)

We then took a bus and proceeded to Candi Borobudur, 1 hour ride away

Time was running out for me as I need to catch my flight at 3PM. We
reached Borobudur temple and viewed a documentary on it. It was the
story of Buddha and some animals as depicted on the stone carving
surrounding the temple. |

Me and Yoke Wai had a really quick lunch then we walked up Borobudur temple. It
was drizzling. Dini and Putti was sweet enough to accompany us both.

It was raining |
The lower stupa
had diamond shaped holes. |

As we reached the
top, the holes were square-ish |

Borobudur Temple - One
of the 7th wonder of the World |
JOKES SHARED ON THE BUS.
The Japanese president practiced the
following before seeing the US president, Clinton.
- He is to greet "How do u do?" , the
reply is to be " I'm fine, how about you"
- He responds "Me Too"
And the
day came and the Japanese made a mistake and said
- "Who are u?", at an attempt not to be
embarass, Clinton replied, I'm Hillary's Husband... and the Japanese
President said ..........
- Me too ( ha ha ha )..........
