Menara Axis opened up its doors and we had an open-air studio event, made possible by NIKE

Jeremy's Team was a favourite of mine, tho I think they did so much better while practicing..

I think there was 6 tribes(or more) taking part in the bodystep event. I couldnt join. It was still ramadhan month and I was still fasting, so I end up taking pics and videos of the events... It was nice. Axis was packed. Tribes were busy doing practice and also dressing up for their respective events... It was something special. A finale of a group competition. The adrenalin rush. I rike :)

It rained unfortunately.... and so the Body Combat Event was held in the Main Studio in doors :(

It all began one morning when Tony explained to me about the NIKE tribe challenge. An event of 3 girls in a tribe consisting of maximum 5 members competing in either bodyjam, bodystep or bodycombat. An Instructor is needed to give cues and will be part of the tribe. The rest will shadow the instructor.

All excited... Syah then form up the team with Shirlyn and recruited Cecilia along with Raymond. Finally the tribe got Azie as the instructor. Heard then Leonara teamed up with Su Lin by then.

Going through the semifinals was quite easy as we did not do many changes to the choreo. PRIDE and BAILA CARSANOVA were the songs of choice.

Finals however was tense. Choreo was much harder and the tribe didnt hav much time practicing together all 5 of them. I was helping out a bit with the choreo and supporting them to practice. Also became some sort of facilitator in terms of ideas and changes needed for the choreo. A lot of changes to choreo was done for the PRIDE song.

On finals day, arms and legs movements were sharp and synchronize. The degree of difficulty of coordinating the movements were high. The crowd went wild. Despite some choreo mistakes, I think Azie did a hell of a job instructing their tribe the WHITE RINGO to victory.

THE GLITTERS : Representing summit, they are a force to be reckon with...

By then the rain had stopped and we got news that the body jam event was gonna be held on the big stage once again... hooray...... hence, before the event started... most of the tribes took a minute a two to take snapshots of themselves on the stage.

Melissa rounded up the crowd and got the party started.

Everyone on the dance floor strutting it out...

Jimmy (The Reds) took the stage. Definitely dancers at their best.

BODYSTEP : Top Three.... Tony got 2nd place while Jeremy's group was the winner.

The Body Combat champion was given one more chance to perform on stage before they announce the bodyjam results. Well, mainly because they didnt get a chance to perform on the big stage due to the rain. And yea... it rawks.... a pity the other combat tribes didnt get to perform on the bigger stage. After they were done,... it was finally time to announce the BodyJam winners....

My Post Mortem Analysis of the Bodyjam event ::

1. INSTRUCTIONS

The event was afterall a class workout session at the gym, many instructors forgot that and was performing instead of giving clear instructions: Azie did the 'Optional' instruction in the begining. The Tribe previewed the moves. Azie instructions were motivating. To me, this was the key that made them win.

2. CHOREO

There wasnt to be any additional change to the choreo only positions. It was a fine line that none of the group crossed. Hmmm....

3. APPEARANCE

I'd say it was the Glitters that dressed best followed by White Ringo. Hmm, tho I think hair wise, White ringo was superb, the additional professional stylist was great.

4. ENERGY

White Ringo aced it with the sharp movements

5. PERFORMANCE

It was the Glitters , followed by White Ringo. All smiles and good audience relationship.

6. WEATHER

If the rain didnt stopped, there was no way for White Ringo to the floor work on the stage at axis and they would certainly not win.

7. ON LOSING OR WINNING

It was a close call for the two teams, but both indeed agreed that if one has to lose, then its best t the other. Peter's team from Cheras came in third.

8. SONG CHOICE

The crowd pleaser were certainly Lambamba by Cheras Tribe. Pride by Axis Tribe.
