January 2003. The Bali trip was full of mixed emotions. Its sad knowing that the bombing has affected the socio-economy of Bali so much. The island, well known for its tourist destinations, were lacking of tourists, hype & enthusiastic shoppers . The bombing of a few shops in Kuta had slowed down its economy tremendously. Some shops had been forced to close down. Nevertheless, it did give us opportunity to get really great flight and accommodation deals. The most great thing had to be the people who were extremely friendly.

The designated driver as no one else in the group were capable of driving a manual transmission car. :P
The breakfast on the first day had kept my hopes high though it was raining the entire morning.

That's osman, me, Wan and my brother, Al.
Pictures taken at Kumala Hotel in Kuta. Located near the double six club, highly recommended.

The active volcano of Gunung Batur. The ride took us a few hours. The view was spectacular.
The weather cleared up. Spent too little time up there, sigh!

Ubud, craft canter was the next stop on the way back. Got really good stuff at unbelievable prices.

 The Proceccesion.

Top : A really unique way to carry really heavy stuffs.
Right : One of the great photos of the entire trip!

We decided to stay at the Pura Cendana Resort that evening to ease our efforts of getting around Kuta.
The rain was heavy and too frequent. The hotel really had poor lighting and problem with the water heating system.
It was however near the clubs where we partied all night.
The picture on the right shows the Bungee Jumping flatform near Club 66 where I walked along the beach the next morning.

Wa-One an MC for TVRI brought us around Kuta the following day. We headed for some spots in Denpasar & Tanah Lot.
The Pasar Seni Sukawati was a great place to get cotton blankets and other crafts.

In lapangan,... err.... Denpasar I think.....

We had lunch at Harkoq's restaurant,.... YuMMy!... he then followed us to Tanah Lot.

The breath-taking view of Tanah Lot. The intention was to see the sunset, it rained.

Despite the drizzling rain, Tanah Lot was indeed an awesome spectacular point for tourists.

With the flight back just around the corner,.. and only a few days left, we decided to take it easy and hang around the Galleria.

Eddy & Deddy were great, they brought us around town that day. Bought a couple of things.

We dropped by the massage place in Petitenget Beach.

Here's what's left of the place that got bombed three months back.

Our last sunset was spent near the Jalan Pantai Kuta.

Hard Rock Cafe near Pantai Kuta

Terrific lighting. The Golden sunset made it special.

The dancing performance at Nusa Dua.

Sad but true. All good things must come to and end. A shout out of thanks to Wa-One, Deddy, Edy and all those people who we've met and made us feel at home.
